In 2 Weeks – METALCON Online! and RAINA Present – “NFPA 285 & Other Fire Considerations”

REGISTER TODAY AND EARN 1 AIA LU HSW

NFPA 285 IS THE CRITICAL TEST FOR EXTERIOR WALL ASSEMBLIES.

According to the Metal Construction Association, “Fire Safety is an important responsibility of the building designer and owner. Even if individual elements of a wall assembly are not combustable, the assembly must be tested. NFPA-285 is an important test that measures for vertical and lateral flame spread of the geometry and layers in a wall panel.” In two weeks, you won’t want to miss this FREE opportunity to learn more about the exterior wall assembly fire performance code with industry expert, Steve Gaynor, co-founder of RAiNA and Principal of PIVOTH.

The code requirements for fire performance of the exterior wall assembly are vast and nuanced. Understanding how to read the code language is more important than memorizing what it says. Learn about fire related topics as they pertain to facades, combustibility testing, classification, resistance ratings, and fire propagation testing. The review of code language is intended to help you become familiar with the way the code is written and the logic, therein. The session will conclude with a discussion of competing performance priorities, and a discussion on how to manage them.

The NFPA 285 standard fire test method is an important part of making sure buildings are safe during any potential emergency. This testing examines combustible components for exterior walls and assesses how quickly a fire would spread by measuring how quickly the combustible materials ignite and transmit flames.
