METALCON 2023: WHERE EVERYONE CAME OUT ON TOP

Last month, Las Vegas played host to METALCON 2023, and both exhibitors and attendees were not just rolling the dice — they were winning big! With a jaw-dropping 40% increase in attendance compared to last year, the exhibit hall was a vibrant hub of activity throughout the three days of the show. Dante Villareal of Midwest Steel Carports in Michigan, captured the essence of the show, saying, “It’s a chance for us, once a year, to see what is happening in the industry, connect with each other one-on-one and collectively as players in this industry; that’s invaluable. If you are in metal and you are not here, you are missing out.”

The action-packed days featured 225+ exhibitors to explore, captivating Keynote and Kick-Off Addresses, over 35 education sessions including immersive workshops, and several networking opportunities to engage with industry peers and leaders. The Architect’s Experience, now in its third year and dubbed ‘a show within a show,’ continued to shine as a winning forum for architects, specifiers, and designers, highlighting the benefits and innovative uses of metal in design. A new star on the METALCON stage, the METALCON Training Zone — a hands-on platform for attendees to sharpen their skills — made a triumphant debut, adding an exciting dimension to the overall experience. METALCON 2023 was a jackpot of insights, connections, and hands-on learning — proving once again that when it comes to the world of metal, METALCON is the place to be! #METALCON2023 #WinningWithMetal

2023 DESIGN AWARDS EXEMPLIFY BEST IN THE INDUSTRY

The Metal Construction Association Design Awards were displayed at METALCON last month, showcasing MCA member contributions in making architect designs come alive through the use of metal. A panel of judges selected the winning designs based on overall appearance, significance in metal in the project, and the innovative use of metal. Selected as the unanimous winner for best overall, solar, and custom, is Thirty75 Tech, located in Santa Clara, California. Citing the radiant work and spiritual feel it achieves, the metal louvers for the facade create a dynamic visual experience based on the viewer’s position and daylight angle. Not only used for the visual effect, but the louvers also mitigate heat gain and glare. MCA member company PPG Industries provided the Duranar Finish on the louvers.

METAL COMMUNITY MAKES IMPACT ON LAS VEGAS AREA VETERANS

In a resounding success, METALCON proudly donated $3500 to Semper Fi & American’s Fund (The Fund), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping veterans in all branches of the military. The Fund exists to direct urgently needed resources and financial support to critically wounded, ill, and injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces alongside their families. A poignant moment came on Thursday afternoon when Veteran Corporal Adam Bautz, U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) (Ret.), made a special appearance at the check presentation ceremony. As a ‘graduate’ of The Fund’s Apprenticeship Program, Corporal Bautz’s presence highlighted the real impact of the support provided by METALCON’s generous donation. Throughout the three days, daily raffles offered attendees the chance to win exciting prizes in exchange for their contributions to this noble cause. METALCON’s commitment to giving back not only amplifies the camaraderie and generosity of the metal industry, but also leaves a lasting positive impact on the lives of those who have bravely served our nation.
