The Lightning Uncoiler ™ — Revolutionizing the Purlin Rollforming Industry

The new Lightning Uncoiler™ is electrically driven and features a high-performance servo drive system. Engineered for both high-speed powered payoff and heavy-gauge drag brake applications, it delivers exceptional control, reliability, and performance.

Unlike conventional uncoilers that rely on friction-based mechanical or pneumatic brake calipers, the Lightning Uncoiler™ utilizes an advanced servo motor to provide precise powered payoff and electronically controlled reverse torque for drag brake operation. This innovative technology eliminates the wear associated with traditional braking systems while providing smooth, accurate, and highly repeatable coil tension control.

When paired with our LaserLoop System, the Lightning Uncoiler™ provides precise coil feeding for high-speed panel rollforming lines operating at speeds of up to 400 FPM. Combined with a traditional nip arm, it also delivers superior payoff and tension control for heavy-gauge applications such as purlin rollforming lines and other processes where conventional drag brake uncoilers have traditionally been used.

Designed to handle a wide variety of coil sizes, widths, and material thicknesses, the Lightning™ E-Drive Uncoiler offers significant advantages, including:

– Precise servo-controlled payoff and drag brake operation

– Smooth, consistent coil feeding across the entire coil

– Reduced maintenance by eliminating friction brake components

– Repeatable electronic tension control for maximum process consistency

– Increased productivity and uptime across a broad range of applications

Experience the next generation of coil handling with the Lightning Uncoiler™ delivering smarter control, lower maintenance, and consistent production performance for today’s most demanding rollforming operations.

Six questions to ask when choosing ERP for a metal business

Choosing ERP for a metal business starts with the work itself: how material arrives, how it moves through production and how an order becomes an invoice. A feature list can begin the conversation, but a walkthrough of your own process makes the evaluation more useful. 1 How does material keep its history Choose one coil, bundle or finished item and follow it through the demonstration. Ask which lot or serial details stay with it as it moves between receiving, storage

Sometimes Doing It Yourself Costs More Than You Think

In the metal construction industry, there is a certain pride that comes with doing things yourself. It’s the same mindset that has built successful businesses, solved difficult jobsite challenges, and helped contractors grow from small operations into thriving companies. That’s why it’s easy to understand the appeal of rolling your own metal panels. At first glance, it seems simple enough. Buy a machine, source the steel, bring production in-house, and eliminate a supplier from the equation. More control. More flexibility.
