Roll Forming for the Metal Construction Industry: Part 2

DESIGNATED MEETING ROOM: S225

**Please note: This session does NOT include Part 1. Part 1 requires separate registration and payment, and features different speakers and content. You may attend either part independently—one is not required for the other. Learn more about Part 1**

This dynamic workshop presented by the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association (FMA) offers a series of expert-led presentations crafted specifically for current roll formers and newcomers ready to break into the metal construction industry.

Material and How it Affects Metal Building Products in the Roll Forming Process – Presented by Brian Rogers
Brian will demonstrate how material changes can make a difference in your products. He will explain the adjustments needed to preserve your design intent and address key factors such as selecting the right die tonnage, optimizing roll design, and reviewing the roll formers’ overall strength to accommodate those material changes.

Creative Options for Punching/Shearing/Cutoff Challenges in the Metal Building Industry – Presented by Paul Williams
Paul will guide you through the various punching and cutoff systems essential for automating roll forming lines. You will explore punching solutions for components such as purlins, studs, joists, corner beads, and vertical commercial siding—ranging from stationary systems with precision servo‑feeds and flying punches equipped with electronic measuring to high‑speed rotary punching units. In addition, examine cutoff technologies for roof and siding panels as well as structural members like purlins and joists, covering measurement and acceleration techniques, the optimal press type for each application, and the roles of both pre‑shear and post‑cutoff configurations.

Advanced Roll Forming of Steel Framing Components and Utilizing Exiting Capital Equipment and Tooling – Presented by Brian Rodgers

This presentation will provide insight into the latest advancements in roll forming system technology for the Steel Framing Industry. Discussions will focus on automated equipment change-over for material thickness, cross sectional variations, punched opening locations, and part lengths. Handling of the finished product in high-speed operations will be discussed. Also addressed, will be the level of operator training required. The advantages of programmable rotary punching and cutoff systems will be presented.  The session will also cover how to utilize your equipment and will help with the points of evaluation needed to use older equipment to meet the demands of your operation.

Requesting a Quote for Roll Forming 101: Let Us Help You – Presented by Brian Rogers and Paul Williams

This session will break down what information typically Roll Forming manufacturers would need to provide an accurate quotation. It will break down differences between simple and full complex roll forming lines, tooling or machines / presses only. Information recommended for a quote request and Examples of RF!’s gone wrong will be presented. There will be time at the end to welcome and address your questions.

This workshop is located in meeting room S225 and requires pre-registration, an additional fee.
