| FATHER OF GALVALUME® LEAVES LEGACY The METALCON community joins the global metal construction industry in mourning the passing of Angelo “Ange” Borzillo, co-inventor of GALVALUME® and a 2022 Metal Construction Hall of Fame inductee. More than a century ago, Borzillo and his colleague Jim Horton set out to improve upon the limitations of traditional galvanized steel coatings. Their work led to the groundbreaking formulation behind today’s GALVALUME® sheet steel — a material that would become the backbone of countless roofing and wall systems worldwide. Rob Haddock, founder and CEO of S-5! and a fellow Metal Construction Hall of Fame inductee, remembers Borzillo as both a mentor and a role model. “Ange wasn’t just the co-inventor of a great product,” Haddock said. “He was an icon who inspired generations in the metal construction industry.” Borzillo’s pioneering work forever changed the course of the metal construction industry and continues to shape the materials that define it today.
