The metal and construction industries are no exception. Technology and AI are rapidly changing the way the world does business.

Join Tony Barnes of Crowe LLP as he explores this new world and helps explain which artificial intelligence (AI) tools are effective solutions for the metal industries, how to effectively review AI and technology options to determine what works best for your business, and what available options are real solutions vs. what is make believe. Tony will share from experiences working with metal industry Clients and insights based on the answers in the annual Crowe Technology in Metals Survey. This survey gathers feedback from metals industry executives on how they use technology, why they are investing in technology, challenges with technology adoption, and future technology investment plans.

Metal Composite Materials (MCM) Building Code Fire Requirements

This session will cover topics important to the Architect, Designer, and Specifier of exterior metal composite wall panel systems regarding code compliance and fire safety requirements, especially those in place from IBC. It will provide an overview of various metal composite materials, the kinds of attachment systems, and an in-depth review of the relevant sections of the International Building Code (IBC).

Learning objectives: Understand the definitions of Non-combustibility. Recognize the base elements of an exterior wall assembly, the characteristics of metal composite materials, and the impact on the design of exterior wall assemblies. Explain the IBC requirements for MCM cladding. Determine applicable fire testing per IBC for exterior wall assemblies, with focus on the NFPA 285. Identify the role of engineering judgments and letters of equivalency.
