Growth: A 2025 Market Study released by the Metal Construction Association (MCA) forecasts roughly 160% growth over the next decade, with strong gains across the metal roof and wall segments. Insulated metal panels (IMPs) and commercial/institutional market sectors are leading the surge.

Innovation: 2025 saw rapid acceleration in the adoption of AI, robotics, and advanced fabrication technologies in metal construction. Modular and prefab construction gained further traction, while the integration of smart-building technologies into metal structures continued to expand.

Sustainability: More companies than ever are using recycled steel, environmentally friendly coatings, and energy-efficient metal panels, favoring materials with lower embodied energy and longer service life. Roofing systems saw a surge in solar-ready metal roofs, cool roof coatings, and high-performance insulated panels. FATHER OF GALVALUME® LEAVES LEGACY
The METALCON community joins the global metal construction industry in mourning the passing of Angelo “Ange” Borzillo, co-inventor of GALVALUME® and a 2022 Metal Construction Hall of Fame inductee. More than a century ago, Borzillo and his colleague Jim Horton set out to improve upon the limitations of traditional galvanized steel coatings. Their work led to the groundbreaking formulation behind today’s GALVALUME® sheet steel — a material that would become the backbone of countless roofing and wall systems worldwide. Rob Haddock, founder and CEO of S-5! and a fellow Metal Construction Hall of Fame inductee, remembers Borzillo as both a mentor and a role model. “Ange wasn’t just the co-inventor of a great product,” Haddock said. “He was an icon who inspired generations in the metal construction industry.” Borzillo’s pioneering work forever changed the course of the metal construction industry and continues to shape the materials that define it today.
