This session will cover topics important to the architect, designer, and specifier of exterior metal composite wall panel systems regarding code compliance and fire safety requirements, especially those in place from IBC. It will provide an overview of various metal composite materials, the kinds of attachment systems, and an in-depth review of the relevant sections of the International Building Code (IBC).
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the definitions of Non-combustibility.
- Recognize the base elements of an exterior wall assembly, the characteristics of metal composite materials, and the impact on the design of exterior wall assemblies.
- Explain the IBC requirements for MCM cladding.
- Determine applicable fire testing per IBC for exterior wall assemblies, with focus on the NFPA 285.
- Identify the role of engineering judgments and letters of equivalency.

Prior to joining ALPOLIC®, Steve spent many years in various fields of Project Management including estimating, installation, field measurement, drafting/drawing and sales.
