This session is designed to outline the key building envelope requirements in the IECC 2021/ASHRAE 90.1-2019 commercial energy code cycle. This session will review the metal building insulation systems that satisfy the IECC 2021/ASHRAE 90.1-2019 building envelope requirements. Additionally, the instructor will demonstrate how to successfully complete an accurate COMcheck™ building envelope compliance report. COMcheck™ is the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s commercial energy compliance tool that helps architects, builders, designers, and contractors determine whether new commercial or high-rise residential buildings, additions, and alterations meet the requirements of the IECC and ASHRAE Standard 90.1, as well as several state-specific codes.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain an understanding of the major governing councils that mandate today’s energy codes.
- Understand the metal building envelope requirements in the IECC 2021/ASHRAE 90.1-2019 commercial energy code cycle.
- Differentiate between the various metal building insulation systems that satisfy the building envelope requirements in the IECC 2021/ASHRAE 90.1-2019 commercial energy code cycle.
- Review key terminology utilized throughout COMcheck™ and general energy code compliance to ensure a full understanding of the project’s performance requirement, the fulfillment of which directly impacts the health, safety, and welfare of building occupants.
- Learn how to successfully complete an accurate COMcheck™ building envelope compliance report.
