Better Together: Creating Connectivity in a Divided World

Humans evolved for connection but working together isn’t always easy.  Differences in what we believe impacts how we interact, creating division that can be costly in terms of safety and efficiency on the jobsite. A successful project requires leaders and employees, members of cross-functional teams, and collections of departments in an organization to work together toward a common goal.  In this session, you will learn how individual perceptions form beliefs that influence connectedness, how bias about those beliefs can lead to social or departmental tribalism and how that impacts workplace safety.  Techniques for rethinking these personal intuitions will be explained along with methods to skillfully navigate relationships with intellectual curiosity and a desire to come to the best mutual outcome.  With this knowledge, you will better understand yourself and be equipped to establish psychological safety in your organization, building stronger connections and solving business challenges. This thought-provoking session provides actionable takeaways to help you to work and live BETTER together.

Learning Objectives:

  • Techniques for rethinking personal intuitions like a scientist will be explained.
  • Methods to skillfully navigate relationships with those from other tribes with intellectual curiosity and a desire to come to the best mutual outcome.
  • Better understand ourselves to be equipped to establish psychological safety in our organizations.
  • Build stronger connections and solve business challenges together.
  • Establish psychological safety among our teams to optimize human operations performance.

This session is FREE to attend and will be located in the Flack Global Metals Theater at METALCON located inside the Exhibit Hall. Availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and space is limited.
