This panel session will explore what radiation-curable coatings are and why they are gaining a lot of attention in the field of pre-painted metal. Discover the kinds of radiation curing, both UV and EB. The main area of focus will be electron-beam (EB) curing, a technology that offers many sustainability advantages and the potential for improved products.

Olivier Magnin obtained his Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering from the Swiss Institute of Technology in Lausanne / Switzerland in 1994. Over his 29 years industry experience in multi-national companies, he has held various managerial roles in Research & Development, Product Management and Market Development and in multiple regions such as Europe or Asia-Pacific. Having always evolved at the interface of Technology and Business, Olivier has acquired a solid experience in leading multi-disciplinary teams in New Business Development and Technology Commercialization. Olivier is currently Global Business Director for the Coil Coatings segment at PPG Industrial Coatings. His mission is to continuously raise the bar of PPG service level and to deliver sustainable and innovative products to enable customers to win on the marketplace.

Global Platform Director, Coil and Extrusion Coatings, PPG
Craig Smith is the Global Technical Platform Director for PPG’s Coil Coatings business. Throughout his 15-year career at PPG he has been focused on the development of innovative new coil coatings, originally working in PPG’s coil coating business in Australia. From Australia he served as PPG’s coil coatings technical director in the Asia Pacific Region before moving to Pittsburgh to lead PPG’s global coil coating development activities. He has a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Queensland University of Technology.

Michael Stucky
Customer Sustainability Business Partner, Global Industrial Coatings & Aerospace, PPG
Mike Stucky is the customer sustainability business partner for PPG’s industrial coatings and aerospace business units. He is responsible for creating differentiated value, working closely alongside suppliers and customers to meet their sustainability needs and driving growth through sustainably advantaged products and services. Mike joined PPG in 2003 and held numerous roles in PPG’s Automotive OEM Coatings business, including those in product, engineering, chemical management, and acquisition integration before moving to the sustainability organization. He has earned a degree in chemical engineering as well as an MBA from Michigan State University.

Karl Swanson is the President of PCT Ebeam and Integration. In this role he has the privilege of leading an outstanding team that delivers innovative electron beam and x-ray systems, provides system integration services and takes pride in our customer service and support. Since joining PCT in 1995, his previous roles have included V.P. of Global Sales and Director of Sales and Marketing. Karl graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and earned his Master’s degree in Business Administration from Saint Ambrose University. He always enjoys connecting customers with the benefits of this technology. As evidence of this enthusiasm, he currently serves on the Board of Directors for RadTech International and is a frequent participant in industry events.
