Presented in partnership with Metal Architecture Magazine
Join Jeffrey Huber and Metal Architecture as they present a special architecture session that focuses on metal in coastal architecture. This session explores the critical role of metal in advancing resilient, high-performance architecture within vulnerable coastal environments.
Through a deep dive into the project DC Alexander Park, and others including Youth Sports Complex Field House, Alma Switch House, The Four Seasons Cove, and Steeplechase Residence, participants will learn how metal materials were selected and detailed to withstand hurricanes, extreme heat, corrosion, and other environmental challenges. Special focus will be placed on DC Alexander Park, where material choice became a defining element of the design response to high-velocity wind zones and corrosive coastal conditions.
The presentation will discuss how metal contributes not only to structural integrity and durability, but also to fabrication efficiency, reduced environmental impact through lightweight construction, and architectural beauty.
Participants will gain insights into integrating metal systems thoughtfully into site-specific contexts to deliver projects that are resilient, sustainable, and inspiring.
