mca live demonstrations

There’s no shortage of activity at METALCON. And these demos feature industry pros in action as MCA members pool their resources to show you the latest product applications and field techniques.

Residential Roofing — Getting the Details Right
The experts from MCA’s Residential Roof Council show the right way to install metal roofing for steep slope residential roofs including modular stone coated panels, painted metal shingles and vertically applied standing seam panels. Details such as eaves, gables, ridges and roof penetrations will be covered to show the audience exactly what’s required for a successful installation.

Jerry Iselin, owner of Metal Roof Specialties, Tacoma, WA, will guide the audience through the demo. Following his lead will be installers from Classic Metal Roofing Systems Inc., Metro Roof Products.

Commercial Roofing — Trends in Retrofit, Solar and Snow Devices
A team from MCA’s Commercial Roof Council will show techniques for the hottest trends in metal roofing:

  • Converting a flat roof into a sloped, aesthetic and functional metal roof, including installation of sub-framing to existing metal roofs and renovation of older structures with a new metal roof
  • Fusing photovoltaic (thin-film solar laminate) panels to a standing seam metal roof
  • Choosing the right snow retention and attachment components
Chuck Howard, P.E., President of Cary, NC-based Metal Roof Consultants will moderate this demo.

Wall Panels — Fire Resistive IMPs and MCM
Specialists from MCA’s Wall Panel Council show commercial/industrial applications for different panel types:

  • How to install insulated metal panels (IMPs) that can achieve one, two and three hour fire resistive ratings. Features one-step installation for exterior and interior walls and environmental benefits — panels are made of recyclable raw materials free of VOCs or chemicals
  • Common attachment systems and installation details for metal composite material (MCM)
  • Applications of single skin wall panels such as perforated panels and accent moldings
